Used Buying - How-To-Buy - Checklist

1) Check the vehicle history using Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) - CARFAX uncovers costly hidden problems.

2) Pay for a Professional Pre-Purchase Inspection - avoid  your regular mechanic if possible due to conflict of interest and engage a mobile car inspection service

3) Check  for Common Problems, recalls, Ratings & Reviews: RepairPal, Consumer Reports (subscription or Public Library Reference Desk), National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (800-424-9393 or www.nhtsa.dot.gov)

4)  Read this great synopsis on BUYER BEWARE topics: Used Car Industry Alerts (presented by Auto PI)

5) Consult a Buyer Broker at no cost to the buyer. HM Brown & Associates covers 49 states (ask for Karen Manzanares, mention code: "carrepairs.com")
